tutorial : outspace shockwave

step by step guide to create an outspace explosion shockwave

  1. create a new image 800x300 pixel
  2. fill up the layer with black & hide the layer ( named it as black )
  3. set foreground to yellow grey (#ffff00). create a new layer & name it as yellow
  4. create a rectangular marquee across on the top of the layer & fill with yellow foreground
  5. please take note the width of the rectanglar must 800px & width can be anything between 30 - 40 px
  6. select filter -> add noise -> noise & set amount=19%, gaussian & uncheck monochomatic
  7. select filter -> gaussian blur -> radius = 12px

results will be on the right .please not the image on the right is 50% of it original size


  1. follow these instructions carefully
  2. hide the yellow layer
  3. unhide the black layer
  4. create a new layer & name it as redblue
  5. create a rectangular marquee & fill it up as shown on the left
  6. now you have only 2 visible layer, black & rebblue
  7. select layer -> merge visible to merge to 2 layers

again, follow these instruction carefully

  1. still on the merged layer select image -> rotate canvas -> 90deg ccw
  2. select filter -> sytlize -> wind -> right to left
  3. select filter -> blur -> motion blur ,angle=0 distant=?? ( please play around with it i use 30px )

    results will be on the right

unhide the yellow layer & bring it to the top & now merge the merged black-redblue layer by selecting layer -> merge visible


results is on the left !

now..final moment! , select the combined layer ( you should have one layer only ). select distort -> polar coordinates -> rectangular to polar .... that's it !
